About Me

My name is Paul Slusser, I am a bladesmith, owner/operator of Slusser Knifeworks and I have earned credentials as a  Lonestar Knifemaker through the Texas Knifemakers Guild.

I wear a lot of hats as I manage construction projects by day and own a business where I bladesmith as well as woodwork and metalwork evenings and weekends. I have been a knife collector and bladesmith for many years. I am passionate about bladesmithing and I constantly challenge myself to learn new skills and refine my existing skills to produce high quality, functional art. Each piece is unique and never duplicated.

Bladesmiths require the skill sets of a stock removal knifemaker plus the skills to bring steel to a malleable condition for shaping and pattern welding damascus. I work with only the best high carbon and stainless steels and I forge my own damascus. All blades are precisely heat treated and tempered in an oven made specifically for that purpose so you can rest assured all blades are built to achieve the highest performance possible from that particular steel.

Don’t be fooled. Cheap blades are cheap for a reason as can be seen in the photo above where the quality knife blank cut a cheap knife nearly in half with a few blows with a hammer.

Each piece of handle material is individually selected for its beauty and quality including stabilized mastadon tusk and tooth, wood burl, stag, horn and more. My business model is simple. Provide top quality products and top quality customer service. If I tell you I am going to do something, I do it when I said I would do it.

Whether it be a simple hunting knife or an exotic collector, your custom project is in good hands with me.  More of my work can be seen at www.sycamorecreekcreations.com
